Cannon and Parker

I haven't updated lately. I've really had a lot of other things to do. Believe it or not, I have had less free time when I am Maternity leave than I would normally have. But anyway-- I know you want to see updated pics of the kids and so here they are. Its been a pretty laid back summer. We try to get out of the house as much as possible especially on Saturday mornings where we try to head down to the RiverMarket to see what's going on. Here are some new pics of Cannon. He is just growing and growing. At his one month appointment he had managed to gain 18 ounces in just 14 days!! He is becoming more and more alert and has started to coo and talk to us. Every now and then he will kind of coo at Parker but towards her it comes across as more of a grumpy old man " leave me alone" sound.
Cannon at 6 weeks
Cannon loves to be swaddled and it really calms him down when he is pretty wound up.
This is Cannon at a couple of days shy of 8 weeks. He looks kind of chunky in this pic but I think that it's really just the angle. He is getting a lot bigger but not as big as this picture makes him look. He has a super expressive face and uses his eyebrows to make his point ALL of the time. Parker on the other hand loves to express herself with her loud and silly singing and dancing. She has become three going on fifteen and is definitely working on her independence, sometimes too much!! She is so clever and sometimes sarcastic. She can tell a funny joke and laughs at yours.
We have spent several days at the pool and Parker loves to go. Although she will hang out at the pool for a while and then want to go to gym daycare to play with some of the other kids.
She FINALLY will let me do something with her hair other than just a hairbow on the side. She now likes "ponytails" but only if she can have two of them. That seems to be the favorite hairstyle of the moment. Her hair has really grown and now will go up into pigtails easily. She also loves to go out to eat and her favorite is probably Mexican with cheese dip as a starter although she likes salsa too. Parker loves to play Mother Hen to Cannon and is always trying to "fix"him in some way. She is always practically smothering him, sometimes with love, sometimes just annoyingly. Poor Cannon!!
Here is amost recent pic of the two before a baseball game on Sunday. Cannon's up from nap. Gotta go for now. Will try to post more pics when I get a chance!!!

Dance Recital

Parker had her dance recital on Friday. She did a great job and looked like she was having a really fun time on stage. Here she is with CeCe and Pappy. On Saturday, we went to the RiverMarket and then to the library. At the RiverMarket, Parker got a balloon hat that she was sooooooo proud of. Oh yeah, and she got her face painted. Sorry so little text but I am having to type one-handed and this is about all I can do !!!

Hot Days

OK- sorry that I am so far behind on posting but I am doing my best. :) It's been so hot and so we really haven't been doing too much. Parker wanted to pull out the baby pool so we blew that up and she played in that for a while. She loves the pool. Cannon is doing great. Last night he slept for 2 four hour stretches and so that was great! He turned one month old last Friday and he has a doctor checkup on Wednesday so I'll be back to report an updated height and weight. My guess is that he is probably around nine pounds now.

Going Smoothly So Far

Cannon will be three weeks old tomorrow-- has it been that long already??!!-- and things are going great. It seemed like Parker was a bit more dramatic than he is at this age-- imagine that. hehe. He wakes up every three hours or so to feed at night and then straight back to sleep without a fuss, and during the day he is a bit more awake but still sleeping a lot. Last week we went in for a weight check and he is back up to birth weight. We will probably go back in this week too, just to make sure he is not starving!! OK- well he is waking up from nap so this is short but here is another pic of him.

Random iPhone pictures

So, while I was in the hospital with Cannon, Matt got me an iPhone. I absolutely love it and am already addicted. It's so nice to have a little buzz go off when you a new email and to have a decent camera right in the phone. I have taken a few pics with it in the past couple of days and here they are. Parker really loves her baby brother and has a mild obsession with everytime she holds him she likes to bend his fingers. Backwards that is! She doesn't bend too far, but regardless, she is still obsessed. Here is a random pic of Cannon. He already looks so much better than at the hospital. Newbies aren't too cute freshly born. He is starting to look a little less alien and a little more normal. He has a nice baby tan, aka Jaundice. We had to go into the hospital on Saturday and Sunday to get his bilirubin levels tested and again on Tuesday. The levels are finally starting to go down and so we don't have to go back to the doctor until his one month check up. Parker loves for me to take her picture on my phone and then let her look at it. This is pretty much how she looks every day after school. A little crazy hair and a little dirty but still too cute!!

Dino Dash and Wedding

On the Saurday after Cannon was born, Matt and Parker went to Downtown LR to run in the Dino Dash 1K. I was going to bring Cannon and meet them down there and take pictures at the finish line but we had a mix up with the car seats and so it didn't work out that I could bring him. Matt said that Parker did great but it was really hot and they did alk just a bit and he even carried her just a little ways. After all, the distance ended up being about 12 blocks. Here is a pic of Matt and Parker after the race petting a snake. That night, Matt and Parker went to a wedding. He said that he took hre as his date and she said No, we are just friends!!! How in the world does she know that line already??!!

Smith Cannon McCoy Arrives!!

On May 26, 2009, Smith Cannon McCoy made his arrival. Cannon was born at 12:59pm. He weighed 7 lbs and 12 ozs and was 21 inches long. Everything went very smoothly for the day. Matt and I went in at 5:00 am for the induction and from there everything was really no big deal. Here he is freshly born. Matt went to pick up Parker after nap and she came to meet her new Baby Brother. She was super excited to hold him and talk to him. She even sang Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star for him. It was too sweet. We have it on video but it's on a different camera and I dont know how to load it on here.

Waiting on Baby

Just a cute pic of Parker out blowing bubbles on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.

Dancing at Riverfest

On Friday, Parker danced at Riverfest. She and her dance class did a great job. They got to wear their recital costumes and even got to wear makeup!! They danced to a song, I think, from High School Musical. This is Parker and her friend Auburn.
Friends from school: Lauren, Parker, Adison, and Auburn
Here is the video of Parker's dance. It totally cracks me up. This is a pretty big class made up of 3, 4 , and 5 year olds. The girls next to Parker are 5 and one is really good. At the end, Parker's shoe was starting to come off and she was trying to tell her teacher about it.

Random Friday

Just a random Friday. Nothing much going on. If we don't have a baby this weekend, then we will have one on Tuesday. Isn't that the most exciting thing ever??!! I have been sticking around the house this week and have been to work a few times purely as a form of entertainment and a reason to just get out of the house. Parker dances at Riverfest tonight so hopefully I'll get some pics of that up b/f the New Baby gets here. Otherwise, I don't know when it will be done. Anyway-- here are some pics before school this morning. Of course, it's Lunch Box Friday and she is also taking "The Jungle Book" movie to school today since they have been learning about the jungle this week at school.

Krispy Kreme

On Saturday, Matt took us to Krispy Kreme. I had never been to an actual location. There has been one out in West LR for a couple of years now but it's not like we frequent it often or make the trek out to Never-Never Land when we have about 3 donut places within about a quarter mile or less from our house. We really only go to get donuts about 3 or 4 times a year. Well- except this year. I think that we've gone for donuts about 3 times in May alone. Oh well- must cut back after New Baby is born!! Anyway, how in my 30 plus years could I have been missing out on the wonderful goodness of a hot-off -the -fryer donut. Ah, it was heavenly. I am soooooo glad that we don't live closer-- that would be so incredibly tempting. Parker's favorite donut is a chocolate glazed but she wanted one of those and a strawberry b/c it was pink, of course! They have a kids corner and she discovered the Hungry Hippo Game. We played several rounds and she is good. Really good. I think that I see a Hungry Hippo somewhere in our future.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was pretty uneventful at our house. It was raining outside and I didn't really feel like doing much. But I did get the cutest present from Parker that she made at school last week. They gilded one of her old shoes and added the flowers and picture. It is so cute. The little pic is so funny. She is such a real little girl now rather than a baby!!

Dance Day at the Studio

Saturday was Dance Day at Miss Karen's Studio. Miss Karen usually comes to Parker's school to teach dance every Thursday morning. Parker loves dance class. Well- I think that she really love the tap shoes but she does enjoy the dancing part too. When she visits the studio, she absolutely HAS to have a pink dot to stand on- it can't be blue or green, it must be pink. I tried to get a little bit of video during the dancing. Notice how if she gets off her dot she has to look for it and get back on. Such a stickler for the rules!!

Pregs Update.

No pics again. Yeaaa! I am 36 weeks. My Dr. said he really didn't expect me to go past 38 and so we will probably induce at 38 since my doctor is on call all that week. I am finally ready and finally have a bag packed, at the stressing out of my friend, Summer and Matt. Matt is totally worried that he is going to have to go home and get all of my stuff together by himself. Well- I have it packed now so he won't have to worry about that. The room is ready. His clothes are washed and hung up. His car seat is in his room. His swing and other baby things are in there as well. Parker loves to go into "the baby room" and play with his car seat and swings. She will put her babies in them and she sometimes climbs into the bouncy seat or travel swing to hang out. She says that she is just taking a break for 5 minutes or she is just "je-laxing"-- not sure where she picked that up. hehe New Baby is probably around 6 to 6 1/2 pounds now. We don't have a final name picked out yet ... maybe this week. :)

No More Driving!!

For Parker, that is. We went to a birthday party last Saturday for a friend from school. CeCe came into town on Friday night to stay with us since Matt was going to be in Fayetteville for the weekend. The party was at a skating rink but the kids got to bring a push or pull toy to ride around on. Parker decided to bring her worm and her dump truck. Yes- she has a dump truck that Uncle Bo gave her and she loves it. She loves to sit in it and for you to push her around the house, and she also loves to push her babies around in it as well. Well- back to the driving. She and another friend from school, Braylin, climbed into someone's Escalade-type motorized vehicle and away they went. I was totally fine with that-- Braylin was driving and he is a tad bit older and he has one of these toys at home. He was a great driver. The next thing I know, I look up, and Parker is behind the wheel. I mean, the girl can't even steer her tricycle, must less something with power behind it. As I walk out to do something about her driving, she plows over a little girl on her tricycle. Great. I tell her that we need to let Braylin drive and she can ride. She was ok with that for a while and then 10 minutes later she is back at it. By the time I get there this time, they have run with full force into the skating wall. As I reach the steering wheel, she STILL has her foot completely down on the gas. I had to grab the vehicle and physically pull her foot off the gas. Luckily, it was time for the kids to eat pizza, and off they ran. I swear, it that continued, I could have had a heart attack or a baby or both!! No good pics from this week, but I'll try to do better!! :)

Soccer Practice in the Gym

Yesterday it was rainy/potentially rainy and the ground was wet outside so soccer practice was held in the gym. Imagine approximately 30 three and four year olds with their parents, all with their own soccer balls, attempting to kick them in the right direction-- all on one basketball court. It was a sight to see. Matt said that it was like trying to herd cats-- haha-- he was exactly right. Parker still looks forward to soccer practice but tires out after a while. But she seems to really like her coach and was asking about him before he arrived and as you can tell, she always likes to sit right next to him when he is telling them what to do next.

Tea Party and Disney on Ice

On Saturday, Parker went to a birthday party for a friend from the Big School. It was a Tea Party at a location where they allow you to dress up in their clothes and drink tea in china cups. The other mothers and I were looking strangely at the china placed in front of these three year olds but they all did great. Not a single broken dish or spilled cup. The head lady of the tea party gave all of these three year olds lipstick and blush to put on to appear like "real ladies." Oh great- lipstick. Glad I had wipes in my purse, b/c Disney on Ice was next. Near the end of the Tea Party, Matt had to pick us up a few minutes early so that we could make it to Disney on Ice. Parker's favorite character in the show was of course, Ariel- the Little Mermaid. She told me that she did not like that Big Ursula. The other characters were from Peter Pan, Lilo and Stitch, and the Lion King. I think that Parker's favorite part of the show was when the whole cast skated around and waved at everyone in the audience. She really thought they were waving directly at her. So, a big day for Parker and an exhausting day for the pregs mommy.

GrassKickers 2

Another soccer practice with the GrassKickers. Parker really likes dribbling the ball across the field and kicking it into the goals but she is not so much into working on the techniques of the sport. She has a lot of fun until they start working on kicking with the inside of your foot or changing from one foot to the next. I think she just kind of likes to do it her own way. Soccer practice lasts about 45 minutes and after about 20-30 minutes, she is really tired and just wants to hang out. 45 minutes is a long time to focus for a three year old!! Oh well- at least she is having fun.

Visiting the Lux Family

On Saturday, we visited the Lux family in Fayetteville with the intentions of heading to the Red/ White game. Well- it ended up being so drizzly for most of the day so we didn't even venture out with the girls. But Parker got to have a full day of playing with Vivi and she really enjoyed it. She especially liked squirting Play-Doh for Vivi to touch and look at. Matt and Damian headed out to the game and after the girls went to bed and the boys returned, we had a fabulous adult dinner-a wonderful night!

The GrassKickers Begin

On Tuesday, Parker started her soccer league. Her team is called "The GrassKickers." She was super excited about practice and was having a great time when we got there, kicking the ball from goal to goal.
After a while, she did get a little tired and wanted to take a break. Playing Soccer is hard work!!
And sometimes you can even get distracted counting your teeth while the Coach is talking. hehe. Overall, she had a fun first practice and we can't wait until next Tuesday.
