A New Year

A few new pics of the kids. Parker is so much fun and into everything. She rolls her eyes (seriously... starting this early) when she thinks we are being ridiculous. Still loves Cannon to death and loves being his helper. Cannon is just growing and growing. He is almost 23, well as of this post, he probably IS 23 pounds at almost 8 months old. He started eating puffs and cheerios and is so intrigued at capturing them with his little fingers. Yesterday at school, they gave him some kind of buttered popcorn puffs and talked about how much he loved them. Well, yeah--- he only eats crappy baby food. I'm sure that he thinks Butter Popcorn Puffs are the BOMB!!!

September Days

So, September has really flown by for us. We have been to Razorback games galore, and have been having a ball with the great weather. Parker got to attend her First Razorback game this fall. She went to the Little Rock game and even tailgated before. She had a lot of fun at the tailgate but wanted to go across the parking lot to play football with the boys. Oh my!! Although I'll bet that they appeared a lot more fun than us!! Cannon has just been growing and growing. This is a pic from about 3 1/2 months. We still aren't sure that he really favors either one of us-- he just looks like Cannon!! He is soooo funny and when he gets really excited he "riverdances." Arms straight down at the sides and he just kicks and kicks away. We have made lots of use of the stroller this month and Cannon has been out and about a ton. What swine flu??? haha. I think he is too big for the little infant head holder. I probably need to take that off next time I think about it. Parker calls it his "hat."
The wonderful weather these past few weeks has draw us out of the house and to the park. Parker loves to go to our little neighborhood park. She loves to slide down the huge slide all by herself and swing in the swings. I am so afraid that she is going to fall down the stairs to the slide. Look how much her hair has grown-- it is truly unbelieveable. It really has grown like 7 or 8 inches. She has a decent length ponytail now!! Cannon really enjoyed the park too. Obviously he can't really do much, but he sat in my lap while we were swinging, and he likes to watch Parker play and Banjo run around. He is really fascinated by Banjo. What a cute grin!! He started rice cereal this week and that is the grin he makes everytime. It cracks me up.
That's all of the pics I have uploaded for now. Will get some more on here soon so Miss Nancy won't be mad at me!! :) Enjoy!

End of Vacation

Parker wanted to hold Cannon by herself and he was none too happy about it. He did his best to wiggle away.
Two sweet babies hanging out at the house.
Parker was just completely tuckered out after a full fun week at the beach and a loooooooooong car ride all the way home.

More Beach Days

More pics from the beach. Once again, Parker just loved the sand this year.
Parker and Vivy Mooney. Vivy is the daughter of one of my best friends from Ole Miss, Lyndsey Bolen Mooney. It is her family's beach house where we stay every year. Parker kept telling us that Vivy was her best friend. They are so cute.
"YaYa Julia", another one of my best friends from Ole Miss brought the girls princess dresses to wear. They LOVED them. I'm sure that Parker was trying to convince Vivy to put hers on.

Beach Days

The beach was wonderful. During the week there was rarely anyone there and we basically had a whole stretch all to ourselves. This year, Parker loved the sand and would play and play in it. She was pretty good at keeping her hat on as long as it was too extremely windy and blowing it off. Then it just wasn't worth the trouble to her.

Cannon also went out to the beach for a few days. Obviously he stayed in the shade. He didn't really like his hat. I think that it made him hot. He is very hot natured to begin with. We tried to get him to wear it as much as possible but sometimes he just wasn't having it. He was relatively content at the beach but he didn't just sleep and sleep like some people have told me he would. He was tolerable but once again, I think that he was just hot some of the time.

Parker loved to get out in the ocean. Matt and I took turns taking her out to jump waves and splash around. The ocean is really not my thing. I love the beach but the ocean seems a little icky. I don't like for things to brush up against my legs and I have issues with jellyfish.

Cannon with a hat on-- yeaaaa! Still chillin' in the shade.

Sometimes Parker would put her lifejacket on so she could swim "by herself." It's just like the pool. She totally think sthat she can do it all by herself. She bobs in and out of the water and swallows salt water right and left, giggling and squealing the whole time.

Vacation Days- Parker

We went to the beach for vacation and we had a few days before the rest of our group arrived. So , we decided to head down to Pier Park and go shopping and play around for the afternoon. Parker had been asking all day to ride the carousel and so at the end of the day, we finally did. She loved it but kept telling Matt that he needed to be sure to hold on tight. She didn't want him to fall off. After the carousel, we headed to the ice cream place to have a scoop. Parker chose Nutter Butter which was by far, the best choice. Mine and Matt's was OK but hers was delicious. Not so good at eating off the cone though, We ended up having to dump it into a cup and go from there. I'll bet that Cannon wished that he could have ice cream too. Later that night, we headed to our favorite redneck oyster bar to have dinner. We managed to entertain ourselves listening to the super loud music from the jukebox and making funny faces. The food is sooooo fried and soooo delicious. Cannon ended up sleeping the whole time b/c we just really had a big day and I think that the music was just too much for him. This is just another picture of Miss Priss from the vacation. She was playing golf but managed to stop long enough for me to snap a shot of her with my phone. The humidity and salt water air made her hair sooooo curly.

Last Days of Summer

Parker loves the pool. I hate that we didn't get to go as much this year as I would've liked. She is sooooo independent and totally thinks that she can swim without assistance, even though her mouth bobs in and out of the water. She giggles the whole time. We went to a couple of Travelers' games this summer and Parker loves to go. She could really care less about the game but she loves going to play on the blowups. She will even go down the big blowup slides that mainly the big kids go down. Cannon has been pretty chill all summer and is still pretty portable. He'll be pretty content no matter where we go. He just hangs out and likes to be held so that he can look around. Poor thing has been so many different places this summer that I know he's so tired of that car seat.

Cannon and Parker

I haven't updated lately. I've really had a lot of other things to do. Believe it or not, I have had less free time when I am Maternity leave than I would normally have. But anyway-- I know you want to see updated pics of the kids and so here they are. Its been a pretty laid back summer. We try to get out of the house as much as possible especially on Saturday mornings where we try to head down to the RiverMarket to see what's going on. Here are some new pics of Cannon. He is just growing and growing. At his one month appointment he had managed to gain 18 ounces in just 14 days!! He is becoming more and more alert and has started to coo and talk to us. Every now and then he will kind of coo at Parker but towards her it comes across as more of a grumpy old man " leave me alone" sound.
Cannon at 6 weeks
Cannon loves to be swaddled and it really calms him down when he is pretty wound up.
This is Cannon at a couple of days shy of 8 weeks. He looks kind of chunky in this pic but I think that it's really just the angle. He is getting a lot bigger but not as big as this picture makes him look. He has a super expressive face and uses his eyebrows to make his point ALL of the time. Parker on the other hand loves to express herself with her loud and silly singing and dancing. She has become three going on fifteen and is definitely working on her independence, sometimes too much!! She is so clever and sometimes sarcastic. She can tell a funny joke and laughs at yours.
We have spent several days at the pool and Parker loves to go. Although she will hang out at the pool for a while and then want to go to gym daycare to play with some of the other kids.
She FINALLY will let me do something with her hair other than just a hairbow on the side. She now likes "ponytails" but only if she can have two of them. That seems to be the favorite hairstyle of the moment. Her hair has really grown and now will go up into pigtails easily. She also loves to go out to eat and her favorite is probably Mexican with cheese dip as a starter although she likes salsa too. Parker loves to play Mother Hen to Cannon and is always trying to "fix"him in some way. She is always practically smothering him, sometimes with love, sometimes just annoyingly. Poor Cannon!!
Here is amost recent pic of the two before a baseball game on Sunday. Cannon's up from nap. Gotta go for now. Will try to post more pics when I get a chance!!!

Dance Recital

Parker had her dance recital on Friday. She did a great job and looked like she was having a really fun time on stage. Here she is with CeCe and Pappy. On Saturday, we went to the RiverMarket and then to the library. At the RiverMarket, Parker got a balloon hat that she was sooooooo proud of. Oh yeah, and she got her face painted. Sorry so little text but I am having to type one-handed and this is about all I can do !!!

Hot Days

OK- sorry that I am so far behind on posting but I am doing my best. :) It's been so hot and so we really haven't been doing too much. Parker wanted to pull out the baby pool so we blew that up and she played in that for a while. She loves the pool. Cannon is doing great. Last night he slept for 2 four hour stretches and so that was great! He turned one month old last Friday and he has a doctor checkup on Wednesday so I'll be back to report an updated height and weight. My guess is that he is probably around nine pounds now.

Going Smoothly So Far

Cannon will be three weeks old tomorrow-- has it been that long already??!!-- and things are going great. It seemed like Parker was a bit more dramatic than he is at this age-- imagine that. hehe. He wakes up every three hours or so to feed at night and then straight back to sleep without a fuss, and during the day he is a bit more awake but still sleeping a lot. Last week we went in for a weight check and he is back up to birth weight. We will probably go back in this week too, just to make sure he is not starving!! OK- well he is waking up from nap so this is short but here is another pic of him.

Random iPhone pictures

So, while I was in the hospital with Cannon, Matt got me an iPhone. I absolutely love it and am already addicted. It's so nice to have a little buzz go off when you a new email and to have a decent camera right in the phone. I have taken a few pics with it in the past couple of days and here they are. Parker really loves her baby brother and has a mild obsession with everytime she holds him she likes to bend his fingers. Backwards that is! She doesn't bend too far, but regardless, she is still obsessed. Here is a random pic of Cannon. He already looks so much better than at the hospital. Newbies aren't too cute freshly born. He is starting to look a little less alien and a little more normal. He has a nice baby tan, aka Jaundice. We had to go into the hospital on Saturday and Sunday to get his bilirubin levels tested and again on Tuesday. The levels are finally starting to go down and so we don't have to go back to the doctor until his one month check up. Parker loves for me to take her picture on my phone and then let her look at it. This is pretty much how she looks every day after school. A little crazy hair and a little dirty but still too cute!!
